Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)

Tapping on technology to enable breezy communication of dense information about Singapore's FinTech ecosystem.

For their Talent Pavilion at SFF x SWITCH 2019, Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial regulator Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) wanted to showcase the resources and capabilities that our national talent strategy can provide to support individuals’ FinTech journeys. These resources range from specialised FinTech courses to an abundance of initiatives tailored for students, professionals, and employers. We tackled the challenge of making the mountains of information navigable by leveraging on technology.

WE CREATED AN INFOGRAPHIC RUSSIAN DOLL

We designed and illustrated infographics for each of the 12 featured organisations, outlining the resources they can provide. Care was taken to ensure that the infographics are informative without being overwhelming, with QR codes nested within some for access to more information.

These infographics were then embedded within a 7m-long illustrated ecosystem that lays out the featured organisations in a vibrant landscape. Besides being visually fun and impressive, the ecosystem also clearly delineates 3 FinTech journeys for students, professionals, and employers.

In addition, we created another 6m-long infographic listing the courses available for the 6 pillars of the FinTech talent focus: blockchain, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, analytics, design thinking, and digital FinTech skills. By scanning the relevant QR codes, viewers can cut through the glut of information and go straight to learning more about upskilling in the desired area.

The infographics decorated the MAS Talent Pavilion during SFF x SWITCH 2019, catching the eyes of delegates while communicating important information effectively.

WE SUPERCHARGED THE ECOSYSTEM WITH AUGMENTED REALITY (AR)

Determined to take one step further with how information can be presented, we integrated augmented reality (AR) into the ecosystem. By scanning the QR code corresponding with one’s profile (Student/ Professional/ Employer), the relevant FinTech journey will be highlighted through pop-up elements on the user’s phone screen, creating a truly personalised experience for each viewer.

Many delegates were wowed by the feature, with >1000 AR impressions made over the course of the festival!

WE MOVED THE ECOSYSTEM ONLINE

To keep the ecosystem alive after the festival, we translated it into an interactive microsite.

To ensure a clean and sleek interface, the infographics for each organisation were hidden from the landing page. Users can easily access the infographics they wish to see by clicking on the circular icons on each building. The ecosystem can also be explored in high resolution, inviting users to take in the illustrations and spot the iconic local landmarks we’ve included!

TRANSFORMING THE ECOSYSTEM INTO AN OFFICE WALL MURAL

We were approached by The Institute of Banking and Finance to adapt the ecosystem into a mural for their office. Several key changes were made, such as refreshing the ecosystem with a brighter palette, and extending its length to fill the office wall. To see photos of the office transformation, click here.
